Air Pollution Problem in Delhi
Air Pollution Problem in Delhi
With the increase in population and drastic rise in the number of vehicles running on roads, both noise and air pollution have risen to a dangerous level in Delhi, the capital city of India. It has even led to Delhi being in first 10 most polluted cities of the world mainly in terms of air pollution.
The increased level of air pollution has also caused many diseases to the citizens like asthma and bronchitis problems. The number of people suffering from heart attacks has also risen drastically. It has also led to increased number of skin diseases like skin cancer and other skin related problems in all age groups.
The worst effect of the air pollution is suffered by small children and old people who fall prey to breathing problems become asthmatic which is very tough to be cured.
One of the major causes of air pollution is also harmful gases emitted by factories in the form of smoke. Some of the chemicals which constitute the smoke are disastrous for the human body and proves dangerous for the plants and animals as well.
Some of the other reasons of air pollution in Delhi are burning of fossil fuels, use of ammonia in agricultural activities and gases emitted during mining operations. Sulfur dioxide released from the combustion of fuels like coal and petroleum is very hazardous for the environment and can choke human beings, animals and lead to death of plants and trees.
Use of ammonia in agricultural activities is commonly done by farmers living in areas near Delhi which is one of the most hazardous gases and can cause severe deformities in human beings.
Mining operations in which minerals are extracted from the earth release various harmful chemicals which lead to massive air pollution.
People in Delhi must join hands to take initiatives and make efforts to reduce air pollution in the city to keep their lives safe and healthy.
