Discovering Where Animals Live
Discovering Where Animals Live
By Daniel Zhou
Do you want to learn more to avoid struggles at school? Once I read a book about animals and their habitats, and guess what? The next day, when our teacher discussed biology, I was already well-equipped with the subject. So today, be prepared to get enlightened by the insightful knowledge of animals and their habitats.
One thing you should know about reptiles is that they are cold-blooded creatures, which means they need sunlight to regulate their body temperature. Research from Harvard University revealed that 90% of reptiles have scales. Most reptiles live in warm or tropical places where sunlight is abundant and a body of water is nearby. Therefore, their habitats mostly involve forests and wetlands.
Unlike reptiles, mammals, on the other hand, have warm blood, which means they can regulate their body temperature independently. Humans are good examples of mammals. Dr. Pasco from the University of Barcelona was quoted saying, “Mammals are fascinating creatures, and their habitats are even more fascinating!” Mammals can live practically anywhere where the temperature is suitable for their bodies; they don’t need sunlight to warm them up. In summary, mammals live where there is enough prey, a source of hydration, and a suitable temperature for their natural build.
Something peculiar about birds is that they aren’t really mammals or reptiles, and they have wings, which enables them to travel faster in the air, and sometimes it might be even more convenient than running or swimming. I found out that most birds prey on bugs and insects on the ground, and most of them lay eggs, according to birdlovers.com. Jonto from Stanford University was quoted in his lecture saying, “Birds are truly fascinating creatures, and I would love the opportunity to study them up close. They are elegant and flamboyant. Humans should never harm them.”
Therefore, different animals have different habitats, and we should do our best to keep them alive. Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed the article and were inspired.
