Holi
Holi
In Hinduism, Holi is also known as Holaka or Phagwa. It is a festival celebrated every year on the day after the full moon in the Phalguna month of Hindu which is equivalent to early March. It is a gathering which celebrates spring, honor the different events in Hindu mythology and a time of ignoring social norms and become involved in merrymaking.
Holi is almost certainly the least religious of Hindu holidays. In celebration of Holi, Hindus attend an open-air fire used as part of a celebration, spray colored powders and water to their family and friends and would normally go a bit wild in the streets.
The center of the ritual in Holi celebration is the throwing and covering of colored water and powders on friends and family, which has a name commonly called “Festival of Colors.” The ritual is considered to come from the above story of Krishna and Radha as well as on Krishna’s playful showering of water to the maids and above all, it celebrates the coming of spring with all its beautiful colors and bright life.
