Marijuana in India
Marijuana in India
People in India commonly use marijuana, or weed, or ganja. Sine it has an exhilarating and powerful effect, it is prohibited and illegal in India. This is the clearest reason why it is forbidden.
The major reason why it is prohibited is the constraint of liquor lobby and government. Liquor lobby cuts biggest earning from its business and government receives big income that comes from various taxes. Liquor lobby prevent to develop a replacement to alcohol which is good and secured.
Just picture out if there is no prohibition on weed, anyone can buy seeds from government’s place where young plants and trees are grown for sale and plant it in their backyard. Even though the government makes weed taxes compulsory, private sector will gain nothing and liquor will no longer be popular which will reflect in their income generation as most of the citizens will be capable enough to pay money in exchange for weed than alcohol. Government tax on weed will prompt minimal income as the weed is not that expensive compared to alcohol.
For that reason, lobby and government are very conscious of the effect of raising the ban on marijuana. In present society, where private sectors control the economy and by that means, market, no government can afford to make a formal judgment which can challenge the private institutions of such big status.
