Pollution
Talk about the most alarming global environmental issue threatening the survival of the living beings on the planet with its adverse effects, it is certainly the pollution. Pollution of water, air and soil is disrupting the whole environmental cycle while misbalancing the ecological chain. Industry and motor vehicle exhausts are major contributors to air pollution. Various other poisonous gases and toxins released by factories and combustion of fossil fuels add to level of pollution in air. Industrial wastes consisting of heavy metals, nitrates and plastics are thrown in water which intoxicates the water bodies causing water pollution. Sometimes, oil spill, urban runoff and acid rain also lead to rise of pollutants in water. Soil pollution is mainly caused by industrial wastes due to which even fertile soil gets deprived of its essential nutrients making it infertile for crops.
The need of the day is to bring awareness in people and take an initiative to curb the root causes of pollution. Though it can’t be completely stopped, the level of pollutants can certainly be reduced and brought under a category which is not harmful for living beings.
