WHY A BAN ON DOTA IN PHILIPPINES WILL HARDLY HELP
According to the report conducted by The Daily Dot, although many people would still debate about the negative and positive effects of video games, one of the regions in the Philippines clearly prohibits Dota 2 from internet cafes. The government officials believed that the game triggers the youngsters to gamble. They obviously want to eliminate the multiple occurrences of brutality and offenses.
Youngsters have become so eager playing the game since the game had a bonus excitement from the time the game was officially prohibited. The young children will search a new location in order to play Dota with their friends or just give an extra effort to have an opportunity to play the game in their home. Although we picture out that Dota and all other games which are violent to children are prohibited and there’s no way to bring them back, the young children will just look a replacement.
The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences of Dartmouth College conducted their research and they came up with significant conclusions on their study in August 2014. According to James Sargent, the co –author of the said research said that until today, studies of video games basically centers on their consequences on hostility and threatening actions. The research is necessary since it is the first to recommend that potential outcomes of violent video games go well behind violence to affect the substance use, reckless driving and exposure to unacceptable sexual acts.
Video games may not always be negative. Other video games are even declared to have a positive impact on the mental aspects of elder people. According to research, guidance in playing video games could be utilized to counterbalance the risk of mental diseases like post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia and neurodegenerative disease. However, it would be reasonable to say that the research talks about the video game Super Mario which is not really a violent game.
