The mouse that tweets like a bird: Japanese scientists create genetically-modified animal
The scientific experts in Japan have developed a mouse which is genetically-engineered that produce a chirping noise like a bird.
The research team in University of Osaka is working on reproduction of genetically engineered mice that are susceptible to miscopying DNA and normally develop transformation.
The “tweeting” muse was developed as part of the research study by Evolved Mouse Project. They are expecting that it will bring out a new light on how the method of human communication develops.
According to the research leader Arikuni Uchimura, “Mutations are the driving force of evolution. We have cross-bred the genetically modified mice for generations to see what would happen.”
Uchimura also added that they checked each new offspring of mice and they found out that a mouse was chirping like a bird.
The said project also created a ‘a mouse with short limbs and a tail like a dachshund’.
The research team anticipates they will give hints about the development of human communication just like the researchers from other nations study singing birds such as a seed-eating songbird that typically has a stout bill and colorful plumage called finches in order to gain understanding about the source of human language.
The research team discovered that normal mice that grew up together with tweeting mice produced less ultrasound tweet compared to others. This could signify that the procedures in communication can extend in similar group like a vernacular language.
