Human has faced unprecedented challenges ever since artificial intelligence is gradually being accepted by the public and developed. This growing trend, which seems to come out of nowhere has brought great joy, comfort and even tremendous economic benefits to some while pose significant threats to the survival of the others and ensuring social equity and sustainability.
It was dreamed by many that with the advent of AI, mankind could finally relieve themselves from the unnecessarily intense labor. Yet, when it comes to reality, things do not turn out to be so satisfying to many groups of people since AI simply takes the place of many people, leaving them unemployed or facing increasingly fierce competition in the job market. With the use of technological models provided by AI, many more workers find themselves under the pressure to work harder and longer than ever before as they are left with more complicated tasks that AI can still, at the present stage, cannot deal with.
On the bright side, normal citizens and workers in different fields indeed become more efficient and effective in their work and daily life. For example, they can figure out more easily how to plan their trips with AI and creators of films and videos can shorten their time span by several times with the help of AI editors. But all the above merits have to be based on smooth and systematic existence of internet connection and powerful servers, which means that people in rural areas simply cannot enjoy the convenience AI is bringing, further widening the gap between the rich and the poor to some extent. For senior people in higher age groups, they are almost excluded from this technological breakthrough as they are too old to be able to engage in using these techniques effectively.
In a nutshell, despite the great benefits brought by AI, human is still on the way to find out how to really make good use of it to benefit the whole communities and severe challenges and threats remain to be settled before further actions can be taken to apply AI on a larger scale.
