Transportation in the Philippines
Around fourteen percent of the 158,810 km (98,110 mi) of public street and highways in the Philippines are covered with cement despite of the critical mountainous land. In the capital city of Philippines, Metro Manila, there are many means of public transportation that are spread out around the city like buses, jeepneys, LRT and taxis.
When riding a bus, you have the option to choose between air-conditioned or not. Air conditioned buses are more expensive compared to those without air-condition and use particular main direction. Passengers who are travelling outside Metro Manila have charter bus lines which they can choose to ride.
The very well-known means of public transportation in the Philippines is the jeepney. It is a kind of vehicle which is vibrant in color and looks like those vehicles used by Americans during World War II. Jeepneys have their systematic stops in every location.
Air-conditioned taxis are everywhere in the cities. If you encountered a taxi driver and told you that his meter is not working, the passenger is advised to get out and look for another taxi because this is a possible fraud and the taxi driver might charge you a big amount. Rent a car services are also available if the person wants to ride in a car instead of taxi. The requirement is a valid international driver’s license in order to avail the service.
Finally, LRT (Light Rail Transit) is an excellent public transportation to travel in downtown areas of Manila. It is a quick transportation and very affordable.
