A Journey
(From An Ordinary Boy To A Legend)
Whenever you are discussing about modern football you have to mention
someone, someone very special without whom football is incomplete and for
whom it is more than worshipping god. Although he is himself the god of
football, people know him as ‘The Prince of Football’. He is none other than
Lionel Andress Messi, born to lead football.
He was born on 24th June, 1987 in Rossario in Argentian. His father George
Messi worked as a labourer in a local hospital and his mother Matia Messi
worked in the same hospital as a parttime nurse. So as usual, their financial
condition was not so good. But Leo had Growth Hormone Deficiency since his
birth. So he could n’t grow up as fast as others. But football is his passion from
childhood. At last he was taken to his aunt in Barcelona, Spain. She was very
rich. As she knew the talent hidden in Messi, she contacted the football club
Barcelona for a trial of Messi. It was the turning point in his life. On the basis of
his skills he was selected in the first attempt and went to La Masia for extra
training. There along with Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Gerad Pique, Messi
was also becoming a star footballer. The Argentine played his first official under
19 match in Barca as a substitute. He touched the ground of Nou Camp in the
65th minute of the game. His team was losing 1-0 against a less recognized team.
But Messi created magic. He scored two and Barca won the match 2-1. The
Journey was started. He became more popular when he scored a hat-trick against
Real Madrid in his first El-Classico. As the journey started, he was becoming a
legend. The Maradona of present time played full time of a game under the
guidance of Pep Guardiola and Tile Villanova. He scored the highest number of
goals in Barca’s history. From 2008 to 2012 Barca with Messi won 14 trophies
out of 19 consecutive trophies. He is the only man who won the Ballon d’ar four
times (2008, 2010, 1011, 1012) Breaking and Making records are his hobbies.
Making quick decisions in front of the goal and the smooth touch of his spike
make him very impressive. He is in the Argentina football team since 2006. His
performance in the World Cup 2014 is remarkable. Although he is only 5 feet 7
inches tall, all will admit that, it is not a problem for becoming a great. This born
superstar is already the finest stricker in the world. His presence can frighten any
defence line-up around the world. He was awarded the golden boot for many
times. He is not only a fine footballer but also a role model for all young aspirant
footballers. Messi, along with Neymar, Xavi can damage any defence line up.
His team mates believe that he is the best player of the world, and there is no
doubt about this. So “Beware of Messi”.
