Filipinos Debate Link Between Guns, Violent Crime
Philippines has nearly 1.5 million gun owners who having an official license. The violent crime in the country is also rampant than other neighboring countries in Asia. The country is in the center of nation formal discussion about firearms and its connection to violence.
The Philippine law permits people to have a gun ownership which reaches to a dozen of guns. Nurses, journalists and priests are even allowed to bring their own gun to work if they are licensed gun owners. Fortunately, there is a law implemented in year 2013 which keeps under control on professionals vulnerable to “imminent danger.”
However, other commentator of gun ownership in the country mentioned that gun possession and violence are associated with each other.
The conflict between government forces and the insurgent Moro Islamic Liberation Front took away the lives of forty four police soldiers and the coming peace talks in the southern Philippines is vague.
Rebellions as well as the criminal gangs in the Philippines are said to depend on the illegal trade to get their firearms.
